3 Tips for Healthier, More Glowing Skin

Indeed, there’s no fountain of youth out there, but these solid tips are no less. There are many everyday things you can do to help boost skin radiance, increase collagen levels, and prevent further damage from aging skin. 1. Catch Up on Beauty Sleep

You may have noticed how the bags under your eyes are much more prominent after pulling an all-nighter or binge-watching TV way past bedtime (happens to the best of us!).

Sleep isn’t just ZZZs; it also gives your body and skin a much-deserved recovery period.  Snoozing is good! Adults should aim for getting about seven to nine hours of good sleep every night, which will help boost skin radiance and vibrancy.  Adequate sleep can help the skin guard itself against pollution, sun damage, and other everyday environmental stressors. Blood circulation is at its best while you’re asleep, which helps your skin produce more collagen.

Still not convinced? A scientific study established a link between the lack of sleep with a more weary and dull appearance. Another study also showed that those who got less sleep displayed more signs of premature aging.

If you want to level up on your sleep cycle and keep under-eye and facial puffiness at bay, make sure you apply a creamy moisturizer before going to bed, and don’t forget to prop up your pillow!

2.  Get Moving, Get Sweaty

You may be familiar with the coveted post-workout “glow” that comes after a good gym session. All forms of exercise and physical activity are a great way to improve blood circulation and flow to the skin. This directs oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, resulting in a collagen boost.  Sweating also helps the body get rid of toxins that may clog pores and give you a dull complexion.

The CDC recommends aiming for at least 150 minutes of weekly exercise to achieve health goals such as maintaining heart and lung health, increasing bone density (which diminishes as we age), and preventing weight gain. Researchers from Harvard Medical School have also suggested a routine that incorporates cardio, stretching, and lifting weights in manageable intervals. (E.g., 30-minute sessions, 5-6 days a week.)

3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Supermodels all across the globe consume a gallon of water daily. They usually kick the day off with a tall glass of water and a lemon slice in order to fire up their metabolism and encourage the body’s natural detoxification process. Increasing water intake makes it much easier for toxins to get flushed out of the body, which can lead to an instant improvement in skin clarity and complexion.
