The University of Florida Terminates Diversity Staff in Accordance with State Law

According to a message released on Friday, the University of Florida is terminating all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) staff as well as administrative appointees.

“To comply with the Florida Board of Governors’ regulation 9.016 on prohibited expenditures, the University of Florida has closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, eliminated DEI positions and administrative appointments, and halted DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors,” according to the letter.

“Under the supervision of UF Human Resources, university workers whose roles have been abolished will receive the normal twelve weeks of pay. These colleagues are welcome and urged to apply between now and Friday, April 19, for expedited consideration for several posts now advertised by the institution. UF HR will try to expedite the interview process and respond to all applications within the twelve-week window.”
