Paris, TX (DMN) – A Texas man is facing charges after allegedly giving his newborn gasoline to drink in a disturbing incident, according to police.
On August 10, Edgar James Bridgemon, 24, was apprehended by authorities in Paris, Texas. He now faces charges of attempted capital murder.
On Saturday afternoon, the police were called to assist EMS medics at a residence. According to MyParisTexas, authorities were informed that the father of the infant had allegedly provided his 4-month-old son with gasoline to consume.
Officers observed Bridgemon attempting to flee from the scene and subsequently apprehended him approximately one block away.
According to the report, the 24-year-old confessed to giving the child gasoline in an attempt to harm the infant when officers questioned him.
Bridgemon was taken into custody and faced additional charges for attempting to avoid arrest. He has been taken into custody and is currently being held on a bond of $255,000.
According to the report, the child was transported to the hospital and then transferred to a facility in Dallas for additional care.
