Schenectady mom in court for baby’s death on GE campus

On Wednesday morning, a Schenectady mother who is suspected of throwing her infant down a drainage pipe on the General Electric site appeared in court for a status hearing.

For the death of newborn Halo Branton earlier this year, Persia Nelson is charged with both murder and manslaughter.

After being brought to Ellis Hospital, baby Halo passed away from hypothermia and exposure.

There was no trial date scheduled.
