Ex-Taco Bell worker accused of stealing customer’s debit card info

While employed at Taco Bell, a Troy woman is suspected of obtaining a customer’s debit card details.

Around 10 p.m. on Nov. 24, a resident of Rensselaer County complained to State Police that the card had been used without their consent. Investigators discovered that earlier in the day, the victim had used the card at the Taco Bell located at 718 Hoosick Road in Brunswick.

Joyal R. Kelty, a 24-year-old cashier, is charged with snapping pictures of the victim’s debit card. Police said later that day that Kelty had taken money out of the victim’s account without authorization.

Kelty was accused of identity theft, grand larceny, and unlawful possession of personal data. On January 8, she was scheduled to appear in Brunswick Town Court after receiving an appearance ticket.

From November 14 to November 24, Kelty worked at Taco Bell. According to the police, she might have gathered payment details from other clients. State Police asks anyone who thinks they might be a victim to contact them by email at [email protected] or by phone at 518-457-6811.
