On Monday, a former Saratoga County man who had intercourse with a juvenile was given a maximum punishment of six years in jail.
Former Northumberland resident Siatar K. Creech, 38, previously entered a guilty plea to third-degree rape and use of a child in a sexual performance in Saratoga County Court.
Prosecutors claim that in July 2022, Creech had intercourse with a minor in the village of Moreau who was younger than 17.
On July 26, Creech confessed to the crime. This occurred a day after he refused to enter a plea due to the presence of a NewsChannel 13 camera. Creech submitted the plea after the judge turned down a request from the media for the next day’s court coverage.
Creech received sentences of three years in jail for the rape conviction and two to six years in prison for the use of a child in a sexual performance charge. He will be imprisoned for at least five years because they will run consecutively.
