The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum plans to take experience on the road

Susan B. Anthony was active in a number of initiatives in Albany during her lifetime, such as the anti-slavery, temperance, and, of course, women’s rights movements.

The museum declared that the Mass Cultural Council had awarded it an operating grant. The executive director gave us a sneak peek at some of the museum’s numerous future ambitions when we visited yesterday.

The museum is currently open to the public, and even when the museum is closed, school field trips can use the house on any day.

But the museum’s executive director, James Capuzzi, says they want to go one step further by giving children the opportunity to participate in reenactments without ever leaving their classrooms.

We will bring Susan B. Anthony to your school, along with one of our volunteers who dresses up and performs the role. We have things to do. We create our own protest signs and march through the schools to wrap up [the session]. For students, it’s a fantastic experience. We will come to you, bring everything, and re-energize pupils by bringing them that living history if getting a bus is problematic, as it may be in Berkshire County. that learning by experience.

The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum is located at 67 East Road (PO Box 244), Adams, MA 01220. For more information, visit the museum’s website to learn about volunteer opportunities and events.
