(AP) WEST PALM BEACH, FL On Friday, a Miami court granted bail to a well-known real estate salesman and his twin brother who are accused of sexual assault. They will not be allowed to leave custody, though, as they are also facing a separate federal sex trafficking prosecution with another brother.
Oren Alexander, 37, was given a $3 million bond by Circuit Judge Lody Jean, while Alon Alexander was given a $2 million bond. Their father’s house in Bal Harbour, Florida, serves as collateral for the bond.
Jean informed the lawyers, “I am confident that these are reasonable conditions that you all have fashioned.”
On a federal sex trafficking indictment implicating all three brothers, their 38-year-old sibling, Tal Alexander, made an appearance in a Miami federal courthouse on Wednesday. Later Friday, he is anticipated to return to the federal courtroom.
The brothers were taken into custody by authorities on Wednesday on suspicion of sex crimes in Miami and federal sex trafficking in New York City. According to a federal indictment, the brothers used their affluence to entice, drug, sexually attack, and rape several women over a ten-year period.
The Alexander twins were charged by the state with three different counts of sexual battery, which led to their Thursday court appearance. Alon Alexander is only facing one charge, but Oren Alexander is facing three.
After accusations against the Alexander brothers were made public months ago, the story attracted national attention. After co-founding their real estate company, Official, which focused on upscale properties in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles, Oren and Tal Alexander became well-known figures in the luxury real estate industry.
The twin brothers were placed under house arrest and instructed to keep away from victims by the circuit judge on Friday. The brothers had turned in their passports to federal authorities, the judge added.
