Thedailymiaminews– Authorities in San Bernardino County said Monday that a 23-year-old man is suspected of killing his wife.
According to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect, Carlos Zamudio, a resident of Twentynine Palms, took his wife, Savannah Encke, 21, to the Joshua Tree emergency room of Hi Desert Medical Center on January 5 at around 1:35 a.m.
The sheriff’s department reported that the 21-year-old lady was seriously injured, and responding deputies from the sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station also reported that Zamudio suffered facial injuries.
Investigators from the sheriff’s department’s specialized investigative division took up the case after Encke was declared dead at the hospital despite life-saving efforts.
“It was found during the investigation that Zamudio was accountable for the injuries that resulted in Encke’s demise,” the statement stated.
Neither the circumstances of the deadly confrontation nor a possible cause for the violence were mentioned.
The 23-year-old was arrested and charged with murder at the Morongo Jail.
