Thedailymiaminews– Ariz., SURPRISE After a fierce gunfight broke out in Surprise on January 6, a 16-year-old boy was injured and is currently recovering.
The boy was shot close to 140th Avenue and Greenway Road at approximately 11 p.m., according to the Surprise Police Department.
“Officers discovered two groups of males had gathered to exchange firearms through their investigation, which included witness interviews and video evidence from surrounding residences. There was gunfire exchanged during the trade. Before police arrived, a 16-year-old boy was hit by gunshot and sent to a nearby hospital. According to the police department, he is still there in a stable but serious state.
After being identified as a suspect in the shooting, 21-year-old Osvaldo Javier Rojas was taken into custody. Rojas is charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, aggravated assault, and armed robbery.
Kevin Schwahn, 19, was detained and charged with obstructing the prosecution.
The inquiry is still under progress.
