Forest Fire Danger in Connecticut Climbs to ‘High,’ Residents Urged to Stay Cautious

The New Haven, Connecticut (Thedailymiaminews) – A forest fire hazard rating of “high” was given by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) of Connecticut on Thursday. This rating applies to the whole state.

Residents are reminded by state officials to comply with local rules surrounding open fires, dispose of hot charcoal in a responsible manner, and thoroughly extinguish whatever smoking materials they have.

Even if you have a permit to burn, you are not allowed to do so on days when the forest fire danger rating is high, very high, or extreme, and you are burning within one hundred feet of a grassland or woodland.

If you come upon a brush fire, you should immediately dial 9-1-1.
