Several individuals were hurt, one critically, following a four-vehicle collision in Aurora.
The intersection of Alameda Parkway and South Buckley Road has been closed by authorities following the four-car collision, which included one police car. Three adults and three children were said to have been injured in the collision.
Police reported that most of the injuries are minor, but a single adult suffered life-threatening injuries. The officer who was in the crash came out uninjured.
The electric vehicle’s battery that was involved in the crash was ruptured and is in thermal runaway, which ignited a fire. Officials stated that they are letting the fire burn itself out to minimize dangerous water runoff and informed that flames and smoke will be seen in the area for a while. They stated that no buildings are under threat from the fire.
Police have shut down the road in both directions as they probe the circumstances under which the accident happened. They requested motorists to take the temporary roadblocks in use.
