Three University of Chicago students were robbed at gunpoint within minutes on Wednesday near the Hyde Park campus.
Two students were walking in the 5600 block of South University Avenue around 2:50 p.m. when four people armed with handguns approached them and stole their stuff before fleeing in a four-door black Infiniti, according to University of Chicago police.
About five minutes later, another student was strolling in the 1300 block of East 56th Street when two guys approached him with a weapon and stole his possessions. Police stated the suspects departed the scene in a waiting black sedan.
Police reported no injuries in any of the holdups.
Following the crimes, campus safety ambassadors and university police officers would “maintain an increased presence” on campus, according to the university.
There were no arrests reported.
