Early in the upcoming year, McDonald’s plans to increase the value menu in the United States in an effort to regain customers who are weary of inflation.
The burger company will allow customers to purchase one full-priced item from a limited-edition value menu and receive another item for $1 starting on January 7. A McChicken sandwich, hash browns, tiny fries, and a sausage McMuffin are among the menu items.
Additionally, McDonald’s will keep its $5 meal deal available through the summer of next year. The agreement was first presented in June and was extended in September to the end of this year. McDonald’s, located in Chicago, announced that it will also keep providing in-app offers like free beverages and local promotions.
McDonald’s reports that more customers are choosing to eat at home rather than go out to eat as the inflation of grocery prices has decreased. According to the U.S. government, the cost of food consumed at home increased 1.1% in October compared to 3.8% for food consumed away from home.
McDonald’s was able to regain some consumers by offering a $5 meal deal that competitors like Burger King matched. Its U.S. same-store sales, or sales at stores that have been open for at least a year, increased by 0.3% during the July–September period compared to the same period last year.
