Fiery car crash in Biscayne Park leaves two dead; one critical

Two people were confirmed dead at the scene, while another was brought to the hospital in severe condition after an electric vehicle caught fire after colliding with a tree and hitting a house.

911 reports were received at 12:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon, prompting officers to hurry to the site near NW 119th Street and 5th Avenue.

“When they arrived, they saw a vehicle on fire and an individual inside.” “That person is no longer alive,” stated Biscayne Park Police Chief Luis Cabrera.

The two other people were flung from the wreckage and sent to the hospital in critical condition.

“Then spun into a house which, when it caught on fire, they had a carport and the carport also caught on fire,” Cabrera went on to say.

According to authorities, the electric vehicle was traveling on 119th Street when it collided with two trees, and the impact of the collision ripped the automobile apart.

“I’m not surprised at all,” remarked resident Ingrid Garcia.

Speeding is a major issue on that street, according to neighbors, who hope that the incident will result in some changes.

“Even though there are various signs around the neighborhood asking people to slow down, they simply do not listen.” I’m devastated that this happened, and I hope that something is done about it.” Garcia stated.

Biscayne Park police are collaborating with Miami-Dade traffic homicide detectives to determine what caused the crash.
