Man Stabbed in Neck During Wild Brawl at Weapons-Filled NY Migrant Camp

A security officer allegedly stabbed a man during a huge scuffle at a New York City-run migrant shelter.

The NYPD reported that a 24-year-old male was stabbed in the neck at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The victim was brought by EMS to Harlem Hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Eighteen persons were brought into custody. It is unclear what caused the brawl.

The NYPD informs The Messenger that five men ranging in age from 18 to 31 face weapons charges in connection with the incident. A sixth individual faces attempted assault charges. Several of the suspects are also facing serious charges.

Twelve others were released after receiving criminal court summons.

A municipal official told WPIX-TV that “the NYPD is currently investigating a reported incident near our Randall’s Island emergency shelter site.” Violence will not be permitted, and any illegal activity will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

This is the second reported stabbing at the institution this month. Another stabbing occurred at the Randall’s Island migrant camp in New York when a man was reportedly killed in a disagreement over a woman.

In response to the first stabbing, Mayor Eric Adams announced the installation of metal detectors and cameras at select New York City migrant shelters.

The Randall’s Island shelter facility opened last year to accommodate the flood of migrants being bused into the city from Texas.

Randall’s Island, located off East Harlem in the East River, is primarily a park and recreational space covering around 430 acres.
