The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled several nighttime closures of the I-110 Freeway between the 10 Freeway and Exposition Boulevard from Friday, January 26 to Sunday, January 28.
These restrictions are required to ensure the safe destruction of the pedestrian bridge over the 110 Freeway at 21st Street, which necessitates considerable changes in traffic flow.
Southbound I-110 will be limited to one lane between I-10 and Exposition Boulevard from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday. Additionally, technicians will begin closing all on-ramps to southbound I-110, as well as the eastbound and westbound connectors from I-10, as early as 9 p.m. Friday.
The southbound off-ramp to Adams Boulevard will be closed between 7 p.m. on Friday and 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The most significant closures are anticipated on Saturday, Jan. 27, with the southbound I-110 between I-10 and Exposition Boulevard and the northbound I-110 between Adams Boulevard and Washington Boulevard both closing completely from 11 p.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Crews will begin closing on-ramps and connectors as early as 9 p.m. Saturday. The southbound off-ramp to Adams Boulevard will also be closed between 7 p.m. on Friday and 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Detours will be in place to help vehicles get past the restrictions. Southbound traffic on the 110 Freeway will be detoured to exit at the 10 Freeway junction and re-enter at Exposition Boulevard or Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Northbound traffic will leave at Adams Boulevard and then either re-enter the freeway at Washington Boulevard or take Hoover Street to I-10.
Caltrans encourages motorists to plan their travels properly, particularly during the designated closure periods, to avoid delays and annoyance. The restrictions are necessary for the dismantling of the pedestrian bridge and continuing infrastructure upgrades in the neighborhood.
The schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions and project requirements.
