Intense collision in Alabama that killed 1 and left 9 severely injured

A horrific bus crash that killed one man and injured nine others on an Alabama highway, as per authorities.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Greyhound was going from Tallahassee, Florida, to Nashville when it collided with a subcompact SUV in northern Alabama near the Tennessee border Monday night.

Authorities identified the driver of the SUV as Sidney Benson, 23, of Ardmore, Alabama, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to USA TODAY.

Jasmine, Benson’s sister, confirmed his death to WAFF, characterizing her late brother as a “witty and funny, charming and charismatic” guy who “had an incredible talent for falling asleep absolutely anywhere.”

“He took forever to get ready since he was designing the perfect costume and tailoring his garments to make them unique. He loved science and intended to attend school to study nuclear physics. He was a young man with lofty ambitions and a huge heart. He was and continues to be deeply loved by his family and those close to him. “His absence leaves a hole that can never be filled,” she said in a statement to the station.

According to officials, eight others were injured, including the bus driver, when the bus collided with Benson’s SUV, fled the road, and flipped near Alabama Highway 53 and Pinedale Road.

The victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

One individual was in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The National Reentry 2030 program now has a third member, after the North Carolina governor’s executive order on Monday.
