New ownership has taken over the hotel and casino in recent years, and approximately $2 million in renovations have been made to refurbish the ancient structure. Railroad Pass was remodeled in an effort to preserve the casino’s history and nostalgic appeal.
The casino was built in 1931, the year gambling became legal in Nevada.
The construction of the Hoover Dam, which is barely minutes away, began the same year the Railroad Pass opened. The casino quickly became a popular hangout for people looking to unwind after a long day at work. How fascinating!

Railroad Pass was granted the fourth gambling license in the state. With the original three license holders no longer in operation, this historic establishment is now the oldest casino in Nevada!

You can also find the Safe Room at Railroad Pass. Are you wondering what the Safe Room is? The safe that previously held the payroll for the workers at the Hoover Dam and the Railroad can be found just off the casino floor! The safe was erected in the late 1800s, and its door is permanently open.
