A guy found deceased along Lake Michigan’s beach on Saturday morning has been confirmed as a missing person from December.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 42-year-old Joseph Nechtow was discovered unresponsive on the lakefront in the 6000 block of South Lake Shore Drive shortly after 11 a.m.
He was later pronounced dead at the spot.
Chicago police reported Nechtow missing on Thursday, February 15 and stated he was last seen in Evanston on Monday, December 22.
Chicago police stated in a release describing the facts of his disappearance that Nechtow had lived in the city’s Avondale neighborhood and was known to frequent Garfield Park and Logan Square.
Officers had originally stated that Nechtow was 32 years old, but a medical examiner later determined that he was 42 years old.
Authorities have not yet revealed what caused Nechtow’s death.
