Chicago’s Second Horrific Mass Shooting in a Day, Three Dead, One Injured

Chicago experienced its second mass shooting of the day within hours of each other, with three people killed and one injured in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

The assault occurred around 7:33 p.m. when two assailants entered a home in the 8000 block of South Vincennes Avenue where the victims were present.

According to investigators, the victims included a 14-year-old boy named Amere Deese, who died from his injuries at the scene. Another victim, 20-year-old Ladeverett Westringgold, was shot in the back and sent to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Among the injured were a 36-year-old man who died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest, and a 17-year-old boy who was hit in the left leg and is currently in fair condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The victims were alleged to have known each other.

As of now, no suspects have been captured, and law enforcement is aggressively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This horrific tragedy follows another shooting earlier in the day at Rogers Park, in which a 19-year-old woman died and three people were injured in a similar act of violence. Law enforcement authorities are currently looking for two suspects. Anyone with knowledge is asked to contact the police immediately.
