Tampa Police Powerful Search Warrant, Seized Illegal Guns, Drugs, and Gambling Gear

During a recent search in Central Florida, Tampa police recovered firearms, drugs, and gambling equipment.

On February 22, 2024, the Tampa Police Department successfully executed a search warrant at Shop Rite Food Mart, 2518 N Albany Ave. This led to the arrest of eleven people and the confiscation of drugs, firearms, illicit casino machines, and money.

“This successful operation represents the culmination of weeks of dedicated work by our officers, motivated by community concerns,” stated Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “We take these reports seriously and are committed to working closely with residents to make Tampa safer, together.”

Throughout February, Tampa residents voiced concern about probable criminal activities at the Shop Rite Food Mart, such as suspected drug sales, illegal gambling, and the availability of firearms. Responding to these concerns, Tampa Police opened an investigation, gathering evidence and working with the State Attorney’s Office to get a search warrant.

The search warrant was executed on February 22nd by Tampa Police, with help from agents from the Florida Department of Revenue’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and the Florida Department of Lottery Security Division. Significant evidence of unlawful activity was found.

The following things have been seized:

  • A Glock 19 handgun
  • A Charter Arms revolver
  • 23.81 grams of cocaine
  • 466 g of marijuana
  • Ten (10) illegal slot machines
  • Over $1,400 in US money

In addition to the confiscated evidence, eleven people were detained and charged with a variety of crimes, including:

  • Carrying a concealed firearm is a felony. Possession of a firearm and acting as a gambling house agent.
  • Maintaining a Public Nuisance Structure for Drug Activity.
  • Tampering with evidence.
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting an Officer without Violence
