Postal Worker Fatally Shot in a Deliberate Attack While Inside His Mail Van

A 33-year-old postal worker was killed in his mail van in a “targeted attack,” according to Ohio police.

Jonte Davis was shot Saturday afternoon by a gunman firing from another vehicle, according to authorities in Warren, some 60 miles southeast of Cleveland.

Police believe Davis and the suspect knew each other.

Later on Saturday, the suspect’s automobile was spotted in a driveway, and police said they had secured a search order for both the property and the car.

Several persons were interviewed, but none were arrested, according to authorities.

The United States Postal Service and the FBI are assisting with the investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Davis’s family, friends, and fellow postal employees, who knew and worked with him,” said Michael Martel, a spokeswoman for the Postal Inspection Service. “Mr. Davis worked for USPS less than a year and was described as a good employee by his supervisors.”

The Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $250,000 and asking anyone with information to contact them at 877-876-2455.
