If you intend to fly out of Tampa this weekend, check the status of your flight.
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Tampa International Airport reported that 165 of its 624 flights for the day had been delayed. Fourteen further flights were canceled.
That implies approximately 28% of Sunday’s flights have been impacted.
However, things were substantially worse on Saturday, with hundreds of flights delayed and dozens canceled.
According to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson, the weather caused an average 30-minute delay on Saturday.
“TPA and other Florida airports are experiencing a high number of delays and cancellations due to a long band of thunderstorms to the north of us,” Tampa International Airport told 8 On Your Side. “The FAA has a delay program in effect for arriving and departing flights, primarily due to the weather and the high volume of flights today.”
So yet, no current airport incidents in Florida have been reported to the FAA’s National Airspace System Status webpage.
