Tiktok Star Faces Backlash Over Her Viral Video, “Love For Black People vs Disdain For ‘Hood People”

The woman known asThekeptwife__” on TikTok became famous earlier this week for the wrong reasons. There is a troubling tendency on the popular app where Black producers discuss the distinction between Black people and “hood” Black people.

This specific personality, whose real name is Danielle Henderson, went a step further, claiming she’s delighted Tampa (the city where she lives) is segregated. There are now suspicions that Henderson herself has a police record.

One Instagram post claims Henderson was “arrested, charged, and booked in Hillsborough County jail back in February for BATTERY.” Along with the caption explaining the alleged offense came a mugshot of Henderson from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Henderson noted in the TikTok video, which has over 100,000 views, that she “didn’t grow up in the hood,” but she did work there. It was one of “the most miserable experiences of [her] entire life,” she admitted. “You couldn’t look at them wrong: they wanted to fight. You couldn’t be silent…if you were, it would be ‘you think you’re all that, you think you’re better than us.'”

Henderson claims that these hoodies also called her broke for not wearing a lace wig. She also insisted that they utter the most “ignorant” and “uneducated” things and befriend her in order to use her, learn her business, or “gather tea” on her to tell others.

The video only went worse, with Henderson claiming that she has never felt secure around hood people and that she is “glad” that “Tampa’s so segregated” so she doesn’t have to travel to “that side” of town.

Even if she claimed to have experienced trauma from certain types of people, repeating racist caricatures about Black people does not elicit sympathy—it simply makes you squirm.
