A mother and stepfather from Utah were arrested after reportedly raping their 15-year-old daughter, stating they wanted to teach her about intercourse since it was “safer” than having sex with strangers.
According to an affidavit obtained by KSL, the youngster called police on Thursday and stated that her “father had been raping her for at least a year and a half.”
The couple, both in their 30s, allegedly acknowledged the horrifying acts during an interview with police, claiming that it would be “safer for her than having sex with strangers,” according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the daughter was approached by her parents with the idea when she was 14 years old after her mother discovered “the victim was wanting to meet and have sex with strangers”.
The mother discovered online chats and Snapchat photographs of the girl in “sexual situations,” according to the affidavit, ABC 4 reports.
According to ABC 4, documents show that the parents purchased sex devices for the girl and “showed [her] how to use them” on herself and others. The mother also claimed to authorities that the girl just witnessed them having sex.
About two months ago, the girl reportedly contacted her mother about a broken condom, and when the mother of five approached her husband, he denied having “full intercourse with the victim,” according to the affidavit.
However, the father allegedly told authorities that he had sex with the 15-year-old.
When paramedics arrived at their home on Thursday, the youngster informed authorities about the assault, which she said her mother was aware of.
Provo Police detained the parents and charged them with forcible sodomy, object rape, and sexual abuse. The stepfather faces an extra rape charge.
They are being held without bail at the Utah County Jail because they pose a “substantial risk” to their children, according to ABC 4.
