A Texas man was discovered dead Friday after authorities say a woman called 911 for help, claiming she had shot her kidnapper.
The woman, a 45-year-old Montgomery resident, called 911 at 12:40 p.m. and claimed she had shot someone after being kidnapped and drugged, according to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.
While the woman’s whereabouts were first unknown, authorities discovered her at a winery in the 10800 block of East U.S. Highway 290.
The woman then spoke with deputies about the car and weapon used.
A deputy found the vehicle in the outside lane of westbound traffic and discovered a male in the front seat who seemed to be dead, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials later confirmed that the individual had died.
The man was identified as Lance Damon Reid, 49, who lived in the Houston area, according to the sheriff’s office. No other information about Reid or his death was immediately revealed.
Meanwhile, the woman was escorted to a local hospital and interviewed by an investigator. Authorities did not provide an immediate update on the woman’s condition.
The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation is underway and that no other information will be shared at this time.
