A former substitute teacher at Pearl City High School has pled guilty to state charges after already spent time in federal prison for manufacturing child pornography.
Alden Bunag pleaded guilty in circuit court to persistent sexual assault on a juvenile and two counts of child abuse.
The 35-year-old faces a potential sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole, in addition to his current 17.5-year federal term.
He was caught and accused in 2022 of manufacturing child pornography.
During his arrest in 2022, investigators discovered thousands of films and photographs of child pornography in his possession.
Bunag has taught at Ilima Intermediate and Pearl City High School.
