A Florida guy was detained after officials allegedly discovered him inebriated and nude inside a garbage can. Wyly James Weeks, 35, was arrested after disputing with cops about whether he was allowed to engage in such odd behavior, according to arrest records acquired by The Smoking Gun.
When St. Petersburg police officers found Weeks on a downtown street Saturday evening (April 6), they said he was inebriated, unsteady on his feet, and reeked of alcohol.
During the interaction, Weeks argued that he could not be detained because he “was allowed to be drunk and disorderly and sit naked in a trash can on the public sidewalk,” according to the arrest affidavit. The 35-year-old further stated that he did not have to give police his “name or demographics.”
Officers detained Weeks for disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence after pulling the naked man from the garbage can in the corner. According to reports, he pled guilty to both misdemeanor charges the next day and was fined $520.
This wasn’t the first time Weeks was caught in an intoxicated situation. According to the Smoking Gun, Weeks and a male buddy were discovered inebriated and naked on a Tampa street after leaving a pub. They allegedly informed cops that they believed it would be hilarious to remove their clothes.
