A man is accused of killing a pregnant woman inside his Chicago apartment, and prosecutors claim he was caught on security camera dragging her body into an alley.

Dontrell Anderson, 26, is charged with first-degree murder and concealing homicidal death in the slaying of Itzel Camarena, 24, according to officials.

According to a news release from the Chicago Police Department, he was captured on Friday in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, by members of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Camarena’s body was discovered on February 18 in an alley in the 8200 block of South Vernon Avenue, with a gunshot wound to the face, according to authorities. She was 6 months pregnant.

Local ABC affiliate WLS claimed that she was shot while visiting the suspect’s family house. The victim’s family relatives claimed the two went to high school together. However, the suspected reason was not apparent.

During a court hearing on Saturday, prosecutors claimed that surveillance video shows the suspect bringing her body, wrapped in a sheet, from his apartment into an alley and putting it beside a garbage, according to Chicago CBS affiliate WBBM.

Meanwhile, family members mourned the young woman who had hoped to start a cosmetics business.

“What this person did is really unfair. “Why would he do this to someone?” According to Juanita Sanchez, Camarena’s aunt, WLS stated.

Her mother stated that her daughter did not know the gender of the baby, but that if the baby was a girl, she would have named her Itzayana, which means “gift from God,” according to WLS.

“I just want answers,” she told the outlet through tears. “I want to know who did it to my baby and my oldest. I can’t believe what happened to my family, including my daughter and her unborn kid. “She was six months old.”

The family stated on a fundraising website that, while they are devastated, they are committed to seek justice.

“Our family is shattered, but our resolve to support Itzel’s family in their time of need is unwavering,” the Facebook post read. No family should ever have to go through the grief of losing a loved one to such violence, and we are united in our commitment to pursue justice and honor Itzel’s and the unborn baby’s memory.”
