A Georgia man faces 50 years in prison after authorities claim he poisoned his newborn baby’s breastmilk with antifreeze.
According to South Fulton police, on October 1, 2020, Curtis Jack obtained two bottles of breastmilk from his child’s mother.
WANF said that the mother was hospitalized after giving birth to their daughter in September of that year.
According to authorities, Jack gave the milk to the baby’s grandmother. After ingesting the milk, the infant girl became ‘critically unwell’ within 24 hours but survived.
While speaking with detectives, Jack admitted to adding antifreeze to the milk. When he discovered the woman was pregnant, he pressed her to terminate the pregnancy.
During the trial, a jury convicted Jack guilty of all charges, including criminal attempt to murder and first-degree cruelty to minors.
He was sentenced to 50 years in prison, with the first 40 years served in detention, according to authorities.
