Surprise Poll: Trump Takes the Lead Over Biden in the Key State

According to a recent poll, former President Donald Trump leads President Biden by two points in Wisconsin in their 2024 presidential election rematch.

According to a Marquette Law School poll issued on Wednesday, Trump has 51% support among registered voters in the key Midwestern battleground, while Biden has 49%.

According to the study, which was conducted from April 3 to 10, the former president had a 51%-49% advantage against his White House successor among the smaller pool of probable voters.

When third-party and independent candidates are included, Trump has 41% of registered voters, followed by Biden (40%), Democrat turned independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (13%), Green Party candidate Jill Stein (3%), and independent progressive Cornell West (2%).

Trump has 42% of likely voters, Biden 41%, Kennedy 12%, Stein 3%, and West 1%.

The poll is the most recent in Wisconsin in the past month, and it shows Trump with a modest lead or tied with Biden.

Wisconsin, which Democrats won in presidential elections from 1988 until 2012, was part of the party’s so-called ‘blue wall.’

But eight years ago, Trump narrowly defeated Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton to capture the state. Four years later, Wisconsin was one of six battleground states where Biden narrowly defeated Trump to win the presidency.

According to the study, Biden leads Trump 97%-3% among Democrats and 91%-9% among Republicans.

“Independents lean substantially to Trump in this month’s survey, with 59% voting for Trump and 41% voting for Biden,” according to a release from the Marquette Law School Poll.

The poll also states, “In the five-way ballot test, Kennedy receives more votes from Republicans than Democrats, with an unusually substantial number from independents. Stein and West get more votes from Democrats than Republicans.

The survey found that Trump had an advantage in terms of enthusiasm. Respondents who claimed they were highly excited about voting favored Trump over Biden 59%-41%.

Trump campaigned in Wisconsin last month and again early this month.

Wisconsin is also one of a few states that will decide whether Republicans can reclaim the Senate majority.

According to the poll, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin leads Republican rival Eric Hovde by 52% to 47% among registered voters. However, the study reveals that the race is tied at 50% among probable voters.

The Marquette Law School poll surveyed 814 registered voters, with an overall sample error of +/- 4.8 percentage points.
