Tragic Double Death in Lemont Hotel: Apparent Murder-Suicide

Police say two persons were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a hotel in Lemont on Thursday morning.

According to officials, officers responded to a disturbance shortly after 9:30 a.m. at the D-Lux Budget Inn, situated at 12241 Archer Avenue.

When police arrived, they discovered a woman with several gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead on the spot.

Following a search of other surrounding rooms, police uncovered a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene and eventually identified as Richard Crane, 62.

According to authorities, the investigation revealed that the weapon used in the murder was the same as in the suicide.

Police said the motive is now unknown, and there is no threat to the community. An investigation is ongoing.
