Witnesses reported to California police that three young boys had attacked a homeless man on Saturday.
The Long Beach Police Department reported that a complaint of an attack with a deadly weapon brought them to downtown Long Beach around Pacific Avenue and 1st Street.
At about 6:25 p.m., police said, the three teenagers and the homeless guy got into a verbal argument before starting to beat him with a tripod and tent poles. Apparently, they flung things at the man as well.
Though the youngsters fled the site as police arrived, they claimed to have been able to identify and apprehend them.
The 12-year-old youngest boy was seen on camera being placed in handcuffs and placed into a police cruiser. The other two lads, it was said, were 14 and 15 years old.
Accusations against the three include conspiracy to conduct a crime and assault with a deadly weapon. They were not identified because of their ages.
The victim’s upper body injuries weren’t life-threatening. Paramedics attended to him, but he refused to be transported to a hospital.
Some sources state that the homeless situation in California, which is regarded as the worst in the country, is getting worse. At thirty percent of the country’s homeless population, the Golden State is home to the majority of them.
Both against and by homeless individuals, that situation has resulted in criminality. A homeless man allegedly assaulted a 6-year-old in the middle of the day in Santa Monica in one recent frightening incident. She was not gravely hurt, and following a second attack on a 7-year-old child, the man was taken into custody.
A friend of the 6-year-old victim’s family Christina Tullock warned anyone planning a fun trip to California.
“If you have kids or old folks with you, don’t come to Venice or Los Angeles,” Tullock told KTTV-TV. Visit us not; things are out of control.
