Biden humorously mentions considering purchasing Trump’s Bible for inspection

On Tuesday, President Biden criticized former President Trump for hawking Bibles last month and slammed the probable Republican nominee for his abortion record.

Biden, while visiting Trump’s home state of Florida, issued statements in which he directly criticized Trump for the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and the ensuing state-level abortion restrictions imposed by Republican-led legislatures.

“He described the Dobbs decision as a miracle,” Biden, a devout Catholic, said of Trump, referring to the June 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

“Perhaps it comes from the Bible he’s attempting to sell. “I almost wanted to buy one just to see what the hell was in it,” Biden said, garnering chuckles from the audience. “People, there was no miracle. He forged a political pact with the Republican Party’s evangelical base to overlook his moral and character defects in exchange for his promise to nominate Supreme Court judges who would overturn Roe.

In March, Trump pushed “God Bless the USA” Bibles in the lead-up to Easter. He encouraged supporters to purchase the $60 Bibles, which are titled after the Lee Greenwood song that plays at Trump rallies.

“I’m delighted to recommend and encourage you to purchase this Bible. In a promotional video for the book, Trump stated, “We must make America pray again.”

According to the New York Times, Trump did not personally sell the Bibles, but he did receive royalties from purchases.
