Google has released another update for the Android 15 Beta program, just three days after correcting a critical issue with NFC tap-to-pay functionality. Beta 1.2 focuses on enhancing the stability and performance of the next Android version for Pixel smartphones.
Following the previous update (Beta 1.1), which restored contactless payments with Google Wallet via NFC, the Beta 1.2 patch (build AP31.240322.027) addresses further bugs reported by users. The fixes for the tiny (about 14MB) update are as follows:
- Fixed a problem that caused apps to freeze and display the “Application Not Responding” message. (issue #328865524)
- Fixed a system performance issue that resulted in excessive battery drain in some circumstances. (Issue #335718464; Issue #335188185)
- Fixed a bug that caused the System Settings app to crash when attempting to add a fingerprint. (Issue 334035378, Issue #335481930)
- Fixed a bug that was preventing the system back gesture from working in some situations. (Issue 331303569, Issue 334738577)
- Fixed a problem that was causing the screen to flicker repeatedly. (Issue #32555461)
All Pixel devices eligible for the Android Beta Program will receive an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade notification for Beta 1.2. The update, which includes the April 2024 security patch, is available for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro.
As a reminder, participating in the Android Beta Program means you may encounter problems and issues as Google develops the next version of Android. If you rely on your phone for daily tasks, you might want to wait for the official release of Android 15 before joining the Beta program.
For those eager to try out new features and are ready to bear with occasional problems, the Android 15 Beta program provides a sneak peak at what’s coming to Pixel smartphones. However, continue with caution if you decide to do so.
