Over $100K worth of stolen equipment confiscated by Texas Game Wardens at Lake Sam Rayburn tournament

As thousands of amateur anglers competed in a tournament at Lake Sam Rayburn on Friday and Saturday, Texas Game Wardens checked for stolen equipment.

According to a Facebook post by the Texas Game Wardens, their Marine Theft Investigation Unit conducted a two-day saturation patrol at Sam Rayburn Lake during the Sealy Big Bass Splash Tournament.

According to the article, the contest is Texas’ greatest amateur event, with hundreds of anglers competing.

Wardens collected more than $100,000 in stolen equipment from 300 boats, 243 motors, and 100 trailers inspected during the competition, they added. MITU collaborated with San Augustin, Sabine, Angelina, Jasper, Tyler, and Nacogdoches County Game Wardens on the patrol.
