Affidavit outlines Topeka man’s fatal attack on parents with 57 stab wounds

13 NEWS received police paperwork outlining a deadly family feud that occurred earlier this month in Topeka’s Potwin area.

The affidavit for the April 16 murder of Ross Fapp, 79, alleges that authorities arrived at the home in the 400 block of SW Woodlawn to find Robert Fapp, 38, on top of his father, thrusting a knife into his chest.

Ross held onto the blade to protect it from injuring him until cops dragged Robert away. Ross had already been stabbed 57 times by that point, and he died in the hospital shortly after.

Katherine Fapp, Ross’ wife and Robert’s mother, was stabbed numerous times in the arms and chest while defending her husband. She told authorities that she was painting in her room when Ross came in, shouting about Robert’s assault.

Robert was transported to the law enforcement center and had to be restrained after fighting with officers. He is still in detention on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated violence, and two counts of elder maltreatment.
