SWAT Standoff In Janesville Ends With Arrest Of Man Wanted On Felony Warrant: Authorities

Janesville, WI (DMN) – A man was apprehended by authorities in southern Wisconsin following a standoff on Sunday afternoon.

On August 11 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Janesville Police Department received a request from the Milwaukee Police Department to locate an individual in the 1100 block of North Randall Avenue. A suspect, Patrick McConnell, 37, was found to have an active arrest warrant from the Milwaukee Police Department.

According to the release, the warrant was issued for a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation – domestic abuse. Upon arrival at the scene, officers made contact with McConnell over the phone.

He reportedly declined to vacate the premises and law enforcement suspected he might be in possession of a firearm.

The S.W.A.T. team was called into action and negotiators engaged in phone conversations with McConnell. According to reports, he left the residence and was subsequently apprehended.

Reports indicate that McConnell will be detained at the Rock County Jail. No further details were given.
