An exchange of gunfire involving multiple vehicles took place in Hazel Dell Sunday evening, according to authorities from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
At 6:15 p.m., authorities swiftly responded to numerous reports of a shooting incident in a retail center located near the 7900 block of Northeast 6th Avenue.
Officials have reported that there were multiple shots fired between two cars, both of which quickly left the scene, according to callers.
“Witnesses initially stated a white Chrysler sedan had shot several times at an occupied dark-colored Volkswagen SUV and then fled the area,” the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. “Deputies arrived in the area and could not locate any suspects or victims.”
Shortly after, a different individual dialed 911 to report that their Range Rover had been hit by a bullet while there were people inside. Deputies arrived at the scene and noticed evidence of a bullet striking the driver’s side door. The individual stated that they were exiting a parking lot in close proximity to the initial reported gunshots when their vehicle was struck. Fortunately, everyone in the car emerged unharmed.
“During the investigation, deputies discovered the Volkswagen SUV appeared to have shot at the Chrysler sedan as well,” the sheriff’s office said. “Deputies located several spent shell casings in the parking lot.”
Despite being alerted by law enforcement, local hospitals have not reported any injuries related to the shooting to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
