Driver killed after crashing into box truck parked on shoulder of I-80 in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 19-year-old man from Flanders died after his vehicle collided with a parked box truck on the shoulder of Interstate 80 in Morris County on Sunday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Charles Marchan.

The crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 38.2 in Denville Township, Marchan said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Cameron Ray was driving a Subaru passenger vehicle when he entered the right shoulder and struck the rear of a Chevrolet box truck, operated by Anthony Cotter, which was parked on the shoulder, Marchan said.

As a result of the crash, Ray sustained fatal injuries, while Cotter suffered minor injuries, Marchan said.

The crash remains under investigation, Marchan added.
