Albany airport chief financial officer placed on leave

The chief financial officer of Albany International Airport has been placed on leave after a complaint from a co-worker and concerns about his performance, the airport authority confirmed.

CFO Michael Zonsius was placed on leave. The complaint is under investigation and details will not be disclosed. In addition, a spokeswoman said that this allegation “comes on the heels of several issues recently raised by the Board regarding Mr. Zonsius’ performance, specifically as it relates to procurement procedures and use of funds without board input.”

This is just the latest shakeup in the management of the airport.

Former CEO Phil Calderone was fired in September after several weeks of controversy in which the board informed him that his contract was not going to be renewed past September.

The airport brought back former employees Peter Stuto, who used to be general counsel at the airport, is now the acting CEO. Chief Operating Officer John O’Donnell was the former CEO.

The Times Union was first to report the story of Zonsius’ suspension.
