Colonie fire crews will be holding a benefit football game to help trooper, tow operator hurt

Colonie fire crews will be playing a benefit scramble football game to help the trooper and tow operator hurt in a crash.

The Stanford Heights Fire Department and Colonie Fire Company are holding this special game because of a crash that happened on Saturday. It severely injured Trooper Nicholas Abbondola and tow truck driver Brett M. Dempsey, 29, of Clifton Park.

The departments felt like this was the perfect opportunity to help out. A toy drive and boot drive will be held during the game with funds raised going toward the two men and their families.

The game will be held at Cook Park. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
