Blue Star mothers, veterans and students all took part in a special ceremony honoring war veterans at the Brown School in Schenectady.

The students got to sing and perform patriotic songs.

Friday’s honoree was John McKenna, who lost his son in the line of duty. Students have also spent weeks raising money for mothers who have lost their own family members to battles and wars.
