Police catch alleged burglar sleeping across from Schodack business

State Police found a Rensselaer County man sleeping across the street from a business they say he broke into.

Troopers responded on Nov. 6 just before 4:30 a.m. to a report of a burglary at a business on Maple Hill Road in Schodack. Investigators determined that Nicholas T. Layman, 29, damaged the door to get into the business and stole items.

Troopers found Layman sleeping in the wooded area across the street from the business and had the stolen items.

Layman was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny. He was arraigned in Schodack Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
