Washington County man charged with driving while on drugs

A Washington County man is accused of driving while on drugs.

State Police responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in the area of State Route 4 in Whitehall on Nov. 2 just after 1:15 p.m.

Troopers found the vehicle matching the caller’s description and the driver was asleep at the wheel. Jason W. Murphy, 40, of Granville was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and traffic violations.

In addition, police found glass smoking devices containing drug residue in his vehicle.

Police said he refused to provide a sample to determine the drug content of his blood. He has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years.

Murphy was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment Court and released on his own recognizance.
