State Police investigating structure fire at Richmondville storage facility, leaving one dead

The New York State Police say they are investigating a structure fire that happened in Richmondville that left one person dead.

Officials got to the scene around 4:09 a.m. Friday, at Superior Storage Units on Main Street for reports of a fire within multiple storage units, said police.

Officials say they discovered remains of a deceased person inside one of the storage units after extinguishing the fire.

Police say the investigation into the identity of the deceased and the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
