Police; Trooper doing well after Northway crash. He is due to have a couple more surgeries.

The trooper struck by a pickup truck on the Northway in Colonie on Nov. 2 is doing well, State Police said.

Trooper Nicholas Abbondola was hit after he had pulled over a car on the southbound ramp of the Northway near Exit 6 and Exit 7 southbound. The vehicle was being towed.

State Police told NewsChannel 13 that Abbondola is likely to have more surgeries in the next few days.

The driver, Jason Guerin, 40, is facing multiple charges for allegedly driving under the influence of heroin at the time of the crash.
