Valatie fire quickly knocked down

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a house in Columbia County on Thursday. 

The call came in just after 2 p.m. for a structure fire at 1401 Albany Ave. In Valatie. The Niverville Fire Department was nearby checking on an alarm and arrived within minutes, according to the Valatie Fire Department. 

The fire was knocked down very quickly. It was contained to a storage room and porch. No living areas were affected, according to Valatie Fire. 

It was determined to be accidental. There were no reports of injuries. 

Also assisting at the scene was the Chatham Fire Department, Claverack Fire District and Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad.
