A new local professional basketball team in Schenectady has now officially been introduced.
The team named The Phoenix will play its home games at Armory Studios NY in Schenectady.NewsChannel 13 s Rodger Wyland broke this story on Monday.
This milestone is not just about basketball. It s about pride; it s about passion. It s about progress for our entire community, said Schenectady County Legislator Richard Patierne. Schenectady has a rich history with this sport from high school stars to trailblazing coaches to those unforgettable local heroes that went on to shine at the highest levels.
The New York Phoenix is joining the same league as the Albany Patroons.
The team will start next March.
